should cut back on the teashould cut back on the tea
I'm working on my paper at my favorite table (the one in the window) in Le Bateau Ivre, my current cafe of choice when I get tired of my drafty, somewhat run-down place. David's in D.C., so I'm alone here today. However, at the table next to me, the same place as last time, are two women who were here last time David and I were here. The older women, who is in a position of authority over the younger one (mother? advisor?), makes critical and negative comments about all sorts of things. Last time she was ripping into the younger one over a paper the younger one had written. Today she's berating others. It's amusing to overhear, in a sad way.

I turned in a draft of my coltan in the Congo paper this morning at 6am after working all night on it, and I'm working on the next draft and the presentation I'll be giving about it tomorrow or Thursday. It's slowly coming together. I'll probably post more about it when it's in a more finished state. I slept from 6am to 2pm, so my schedule is all messed up. It feels like noon to me right now.

In other news, many application deadlines are fast approaching, including the EWF summer internship application. David will be going to the IDLELO Open Source/Open Content conference in Cape Town in January, and I've told him to keep a lookout for other internship opportunities on behalf of EWF-Berkeley, who has lots of CS members but no CS projects, while he's there. I'm excited to attend by proxy. :~)
