Juno is a terrible email provider
Public
aggravatedaggravated
I've put up with Juno's crappy interface and their proprietary, ad-laden, buggy, mail-mangling software for nine years now. I stuck with Juno this long because my Juno address is the only way many junior high or high school friends know to contact me. Even though I've been diverting more and more of my mail to my gmail account in the last year, I've continued to diligently check my Juno inbox. But this latest crash is the last straw. If you want to reach me by email, please do so at my gmail.com address (same username as Juno; all others forward there). I'll only be checking my Juno account rarely from now on.

What happened?

I used Hotmail, but once I got olego.com, everything changed. Since I'll be keeping it forever, I get to choose where my mail will be forwarded. Buy morganya.com?

Juno tends to corrupt my mailboxes when my computer crashes while it's running. Now it won't even open, rendering my email archives from the last three and a half years inaccessible. I'll probably salvage them somehow, but I'm sick of this happening.

I think I'm too much of a cheapskate to get my own domain. :~) But it would be nice to have the flexibility to forward it all wherever I want. One problem, though, is that when I reply, others see my destination email, and they will tend to use that for further replies rather than morganya.com or whatever my domain would be.

Namecheap.com:

Very very tempting. Only $8.88/yr for your own delicious domain name :)

...and why would anyone see your destination e-mail if you simply reconfigured your mail client to use the other address? I've been using fowarded e-mail for years without a problem.

Gmail doesn't allow me to do this - it'll change the reply-to email, but not the one that shows up next to my name. And stupid Juno doesn't let you forward your mail, and doesn't provide pop or imap access so you're forced to use their crappy, ad-laden software. :~) (Otherwise I would have been doing this for years already, and I wouldn't have my current problem.)

I could just forward all addresses separately to a mail client, but it's really nice to have them all in a central location online as well as on my computer, and gmail does that archiving.
