solar eclipse!
Public
astronomy, bay area, news

If you happen to be up at 3am, you can check out the Exploratorium's live webcast (or their all-night solar eclipse party). Hope my friends in Turkey have better weather than we have now in the Bay Area!

I believe I know at least one person who travelled to see this eclipse live. There are a few I know who make various trips like that. Alas, I had to miss it. Did you check out the webcast or the party?

On a totally unrelated note, I ran across your LJ when looking for SFOpen photos on flickr. I didn't bring my film camera up to get some nice shots with high speed film, so I was hoping to see what others captured. Did you attend the SFOpen this past weekend?

I'd missed noticing that the Cardinal Classic was happening this Saturday. Ack. Now, I'm overbooked with 4-5 overlapping things. But, it's good that you had it listed. I may just have to go watch part of it. It's always fun to see decadance perform. Though, I don't yet know if I'll be able to catch them this time.

Have fun dancing at the competition.

Hi, and welcome! I did go to the party at the Exploratorium. Some friends of mine (eviladmin, r6, hukuma, and fanlain) actually went to Turkey, but alas, I had neither the money nor the time for such a trip.

I'm afraid I didn't go to SFOpen this year, but many of my friends did - I'll post links to their photos as comments here when I learn about them. Perhaps I'll see you at the Cardinal Classic this coming weekend! I see you went to Peers, too -- do you frequent Gaskell's as well?

So, how was the party? Cool that your friends did get to go.

It's likely that I saw some of your friends at SFOpen. I was really there most of the weekend, except when I slept in on Sunday. Thanks, in advance, for posting the photo links. :) I do hope to make it to part of the Cardinal Classic. I'll try to mark down the schedule in case I can make it to watch you compete. I just have to figure out which things I'm skipping on Saturday. Dance sometimes trumps other things. :)

I don't actually frequent PEERS. The Vampyre Ball in Pleasanton is the one I've attended in the past. This was the first event other than the Vampyre Ball that I've attended. I just popped in for a couple hours, then headed back to the SFOpen. I've never made it to Gaskell's. Though, now that I'm able to dance again and am dancing more, I may be attending other events. I'm mostly at Friday Night Waltz in Palo Alto and Stanford's Jammix.

I haven't had time, yet, to process my photos, but I did show one of you and your partner dancing a Quickstep in my mention of the Cardinal Classic.

Congratulations, again!

solar eclipse!
How does one view a solar eclipse at 3:00 am? In one sense we get a solar eclipse at that time of day every day (it sure gets dark anyway). Seriously, is this eclipse viewable from anywhere in the world? Thanks, Bruce http://www.atomicdesignstudio.com.au (http://www.atomicdesignstudio.com.au)
