Fata Morgana

This first drawing was an in-class exercise we did last Wednesday. We were to draw a charette of Faculty Glade (looking south), simulating a glance at the scene, where detail falls away in the periphery. Buildings are conveniently omitted. I got a minor sunburn drawing this. Guess where my inkwell was!

This second one is on a piece of brown butcher paper about 3 feet by 6 feet in size. It's probably the biggest drawing I've ever done, aside from chalk drawings and the full-body outlines I did in elementary school. The exercise was to do a monochrome drawing of a tree, and I chose the lovely convoluted buckeye tree on the north side of Faculty Glade.

Damn, Morgan, I'd almost forgotten that you're a great artist, too :) You continue to impress me, girl.

Your drawings are awesome (that word is derived from awe, yes?). I'm envious.

At first I thought those dots in the upper left of picture of the glade were a balloon with some bits tied to its string, but now I'm guess they are accidental spots linked by JPG artifacts? So I'm guessing your inkwell was toward the top-left corner of your paper (and that you're a lefty?).

Thanks! Yes, that's where my inkwell was. :~) I'm actually right-handed, which is probably why I was dripping in the first place (though occasionally I draw with my non-dominant hand).
